What’s better than heavy blues-based psychedelic music? MORE heavy blues-based psychedelic music. This time with tasty Hammond keyboards that are more Uriah Heep than Deep Purple. Brazil and the whole of South America are KILLING it lately. Instrumental heavy psych with a hint of spice! Absolute old-school guitar heaven!
Favorite track: Funeral.

Brazilian instumental band. They play a blend of psychedelic/space/progessive rock. The way the band can transition from hard heavy riffs to a calmness is magical and powerful. The one ingredient that takes this record to another level are the keyboards/ organ.
Favorite track: Sonho Lúcido.
Locomotiva Elétrica is a Brazilian instrumental rock band, formed by Lucas Stein (keyboard), Murilo Neumann (guitar) and Eduardo Camini (drums). It was born in 2014, during music jams set up by friends, were the first compositions were made. The first live performance was in 2015, delivering a visceral, energetic and psychedelic sound influenced by the 70s and 60s rock and roll, post rock and stoner rock.
The EP "Os Animais Que Nos Habitam" was realeased in 2024, by the label Abraxas Records. With five songs, recorded between 2018 and 2023 and produced by the band, the EP shows a band with more maturity and technique, in compositions full of moods and ambiences, heavy and melodic, during almost 30 minutes.
"Sonho Lúcido" is a delirium, traveling through heavy guitars and a sharp keyboard, ending in a dark and powerful lamentation.
"Funeral" shows the band capacity to create different dynamics in one song, transitioning between brutal heavy rock and calm moments many times.
"Terra Seca" maybe is the heaviest song in the EP. A beautiful introduction conducts the song to powerful riffs that end in an explosion of fuzz and hammond.
"O Outro Que Também Sou Eu" is the most experimental song ever composed by the band. Starting with riffs that remind us of pop songs even, it evolves to a tangle of guitars, keyboards and synthesizers that form a post-rock ambience.
"Cabo Canaveral", as its name evoques, takes off in heavy riffs and straightforward solos, beginning in a psychedelyc introduction, as a countdown, for then to bring the album to a closure, full of energy and rock'n roll.

This falls into the weird and wonderful section of my mind. It doesn’t just fall, it liquifies and dribbles down the back of my brain with delight. Well put together weirdness that needs to be experienced. Fusion Party Prog from Tasmania. That’s a sentence I have never written before in my life, and I liked it. Justin@BlindMouse

If you like to live on the edge and have no regard for mindless compliance or conformity, this might just be the ticket. But I gotta warn you, Auralayer's Thousand Petals is probably going to duke it out for Album of the Year at Clean and Sober Stoner, maybe even the Doom Charts, against the likes of Hail the Void, Faery Ring, Snakemother and Acid King. Once you cross that line, it can be hard to go back...
